PM Tarique Rahman visits ailing Mirza Abbas at Evercare Hospital, ensures advanced treatment in Singapore

News Desk

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today paid a personal visit to his political adviser and BNP Standing Committee Member, Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, who is currently receiving medical care at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. The visit, which took place at 2:20 pm, was aimed at personally checking on the health condition of the senior politician, who fell seriously ill earlier this week.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, Saleh Shibly, Tarique Rahman spent considerable time beside Mirza Abbas’s bedside, engaging with him and inquiring about his overall health and well-being. During the visit, the Prime Minister also directed hospital authorities and relevant officials to take all necessary steps to ensure that Mirza Abbas receives prompt and high-quality treatment. Specifically, he instructed preparations for advanced medical care abroad, emphasizing the urgency of transferring him to a specialized facility in Singapore for further treatment.

Afroza Abbas, the wife of Mirza Abbas and President of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, was present during the Prime Minister’s visit, along with the attending medical team. Sources from the hospital confirmed that arrangements were underway to transfer Mirza Abbas via air ambulance to Singapore. According to the BNP, the patient is scheduled to depart at 6:00 pm today and is expected to be admitted to the Department of Neuroscience at the National University Hospital in Singapore, where he will receive specialized care.

Mirza Abbas reportedly fell ill suddenly on the evening of March 11 while breaking his fast during iftar. He lost consciousness shortly afterward, and as his condition did not improve, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital late that night for immediate medical attention. Afroza Abbas has requested prayers from the people across the country for her husband’s swift recovery, expressing hope that with timely and advanced treatment, he will regain his health.

The visit by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman underscores both the personal concern of the nation’s leadership and the political camaraderie within the BNP, reflecting a commitment to ensuring the well-being of senior party members during critical health emergencies
