US president thanks Bangladesh for Boeing purchase and sends warm regards to the Bangladeshi people

US President Donald Trump has expressed his expectation of meeting Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the “not too distant future,” while conveying his warmest regards and affection to the people of Bangladesh.

Trump made the remarks in a letter sent to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on August 31, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

“I look forward to meeting you in the not too distant future,” Trump wrote in the letter, signaling his interest in strengthening direct engagement with Bangladesh’s leadership.

The US president also thanked the Bangladeshi government for its decision to purchase Boeing aircraft. Highlighting the importance of the deal, Trump assured the prime minister that the US aerospace company would deliver on its commitments.

“Boeing will not let you down, and I will not forget,” Trump said, according to the letter.

The message also included a strong expression of confidence in Bangladesh’s future under Tarique Rahman’s leadership. Trump said he believed the country and its people could look forward to a brighter future.

“Please give my warmest regards and love to the people of Bangladesh,” Trump wrote. “They have been through much but, under your leadership, I feel certain that they, and your Country itself, will have a very bright future.”

Trump further thanked Tarique Rahman for his attention to the planned Boeing aircraft purchase, underscoring the economic and commercial significance of the agreement in bilateral relations.

The letter comes as Bangladesh and the United States seek to deepen their engagement across trade, investment and other areas of mutual interest. The Boeing purchase is expected to add an important commercial dimension to the relationship, while high-level political contacts could further strengthen ties between Dhaka and Washington.

Trump’s expressed intention to meet Tarique Rahman also raises the prospect of a future high-level meeting between the two leaders. While the letter did not specify a date or venue, Trump’s reference to meeting “in the not too distant future” suggests that such an encounter could take place as diplomatic and bilateral engagements continue.

For Bangladesh, the US remains an important economic and strategic partner, while Washington has significant interests in expanding commercial ties with Dhaka.
