Bangladesh Army has received a distinguished recognition from the US state of Georgia for its longstanding and impactful contributions to global peacekeeping under the United Nations framework. The honour highlights the country’s consistent commitment to maintaining international peace and stability through its highly regarded peacekeeping forces.
According to an official statement, the resolution was formally presented to Bangladesh Army Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman on March 31 during a session of the Georgia State Senate. The recognition was handed over by Governor Brian P. Kemp, symbolizing strong appreciation from the state leadership.
The resolution, adopted with bipartisan support, praised Bangladesh for the professionalism, discipline, and dedication demonstrated by its peacekeepers in various conflict zones around the world. Bangladesh is widely recognized as one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping missions, with personnel serving in challenging and often high-risk environments.
The initiative behind this recognition was led by State Senator Sheikh Rahman, who emphasized the vital role played by Bangladeshi forces in promoting global peace and humanitarian stability.
