Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged the people to strive wholeheartedly in building an ideal family, society, and state, inspired by the comprehensive teachings of Salat (Islamic prayers). He made the call while addressing a well-wishers’ meeting organized by Jamaat’s Kafrul Thana West unit at the Shewrapara Central Mosque in the capital’s Shewrapara area on Saturday after the Asr prayer.
The meeting was presided over by Kafrul Thana Ameer Abdul Matin Khan and conducted by Thana Secretary Atique Hasan. The gathering saw the participation of several key leaders, including Jamaat Central Working Committee member and Dhaka City North unit Secretary Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, who spoke as the special guest. Also present were Jamaat Dhaka City North Working Committee member Sha Alam Tuhin, Kafrul Zone team members Tarek Reza Tuhin, Nasimul Alam, Aminur Rahman Aman, Khandaker Mahbubul Islam, and Sirazul Islam, among others.
In his keynote address, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the central role of Salat in shaping the character of individuals and guiding societal progress. “Salat is not merely a ritual but a divine command that structures our daily lives and forms the foundation of moral and ethical behavior,” he said. He stressed that without instilling the values of Salat, the dream of a just and ideal society cannot be realized.
Referring specifically to the Asr prayer, Dr. Rahman noted its special significance in Islamic tradition. “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) referred to the Asr prayer as ‘Usta’ — indicating its centrality. It is a critical juncture in the day and a test of our commitment,” he explained. “Following the teachings of Salat leads not only to worldly success but also to salvation in the Hereafter,” he added.
The Jamaat Ameer further stated that Islam is a complete and universal code of life and must be followed in its entirety. “There is no room to pick and choose only the convenient parts of religion. True adherence means complete submission to the will of Allah,” he remarked.
He called upon all to be more vigilant in maintaining regularity in their prayers and to let the transformative message of Salat influence all aspects of personal and communal life. “If our prayers are sincere, they will reflect in our behavior, our families, our workplaces, and eventually in our governance and societal systems,” he said.
In concluding his address, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged the audience to remain united under the ideological leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami and to strengthen their bond with the organization for greater social and spiritual transformation. “Only through unity, discipline, and adherence to Islamic principles can we navigate the challenges of the modern world,” he stated.
The well-wishers’ meeting at Kafrul is part of Jamaat’s ongoing grassroots outreach aimed at strengthening organizational ties, encouraging religious observance, and promoting its socio-political vision grounded in Islamic teachings.
