In a bid to boost the domestic electric vehicle market, state-owned Atlas Bangladesh Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Zhejiang Luan Electric Vehicle Company Limited to market electric bikes (e-bikes) across Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed today at the conference room of the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) in Dhaka, in the presence of Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md Nuruzzaman. According to a press release, the agreement marks a significant step toward promoting eco-friendly transportation and reducing carbon emissions in the country.
Under the MoU, Atlas Bangladesh Limited will begin marketing Zhejiang Luan’s e-bikes from August this year through an extensive network of dealers nationwide. Zhejiang Luan, a prominent Chinese manufacturer known for its quality electric scooters and bikes, is entering the Bangladeshi market for the first time through this partnership.
The signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Secretary (State-owned Corporations) of the Industries Ministry M A Kamal Billah, BSEC Chairman Md Anwarul Alam, and Atlas Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Md Azibar Rahman.
Zhejiang Luan’s Director of International Department, Daniel Yu, and other high-ranking officials from the Chinese company were also present at the event, signaling a strong commitment to long-term collaboration and technology sharing.
The partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the development of Bangladesh’s electric vehicle infrastructure and offer consumers affordable, sustainable transport alternatives.
